Describe yourself in 200 words.
Growing up, I was quiet and into books and horses. I was never into team sports and only discovered I was competitive after finding CrossFit around age 30! Now I only work out with others (I’ve never worked out at home alone, even though we have a platform, bumpers, rings and rower in our garage) and love entering in CrossFit competitions. I enjoy being with family or close friends and have a strong faith in God. My favorite part about CrossFit is that it’s something my whole family can do together. From Sarah doing deadhang pull-ups at age 3, to Braxton and I entering in weightlifting competitions together! I enjoy coaching others and rejoicing with them when they get their first Pull-up or a new PR (personal record). Outside of CrossFit, I enjoy playing puzzles and board games with my kids, watching Braxton’s soccer or basketball games, going for walks and going to movies. After 9 years of marriage (on April 27), I still love going on dates with Aaron! We like going out for dessert at Moxie’s and trying really hard not to talk about kids or CrossFit! I love to travel and would like to do more of it some day. I cannot sit still and do nothing. I fold laundry while watching TV and play Sudokus in the tanning bed!

How did you start CrossFit Regina?
We started out as a fitness club in our basement and a twonie jar. It was just me and some mommy friends when Sarah was a baby and Aaron was our coach! Aaron and I drove to Denver, Colorado and got our CrossFit level one training in May 2007 and opened for business in July 2007. We were the first CrossFit Affiliate in Saskatchewan. We grew to 80 members in our basement within 10 months! We moved out of our basement to our first facility which we called “Betty” and was 1200 square feet. In another 10 months, we outgrew that and moved to “Lucy” which is 3000 square feet and our current facility that we have been in for just over 2 years.
How long have you been CrossFitting?
Just over 4 years, started as a new year’s resolution on January 1, 2007. My first workout was the 10 minute mini-Cindy that we have everyone do in their first foundations class!

Describe yourself in 200 words.
Quiet and introspective. I train for very personal reasons rather than social reasons. I have done some form of physical training or exercise since I was in middle school (I guess about 25 years?) and essentially individual activities rather than team sports. It would feel odd to not do something or have to convince myself to train. I prefer training without music or an audience.
I enjoy reading and being at home. Laughter is as necessary for me as breathing. I’m not overly handy or mechanical but please don’t enroll me on Canada’s Worst Handyman. I try to live each day according to my faith as best I can and hope to leave this world a little better than when I came. I can’t imagine going through life with anyone other than my Robin.
I’ve really said too much already.
Describe yourself in 1 word.
Introvert.
What is CrossFit?
CrossFit is about being functionally useful in the world. It is my attempt to be prepared for the challenges of work in firefighting. It is about being capable in virtually any situation or circumstance. It is therapy, it is self-awareness, it is expression. Moving the body the way it was meant to be moved.
And, being ready for the zombie apocalypse.
How long have you been CrossFitting?
Started dabbling late 2004, first recorded WOD was 5 February 2005.

Describe yourself in 200 words.
I am a French Immersion middle years teacher. Before joining CrossFit in January of 2008, I was involved in several different activities. As a teenager, I played several organized sports including Waterpolo, Rugby, and Volleyball. During University, I spent time working out at different gyms, playing on Rec teams and I found that eventually, I was bored of every activity. With CrossFit, I have never been bored and feel consistently challenged. I love that every workout is a challenge and you get a feeling of accomplishment just by finishing it.

Describe yourself in 200 words.
Never much of an athlete growing up, I spent a good chunk of my 20’s and early 30’s sitting on the couch, smoking, drinking beer and eating pizza. My neurological disorder (something called generalized dystonia) was a handy excuse. After being diagnosed with nine million different things pretty much all related to spending too much time sitting on the couch, smoking, drinking beer and eating pizza, I took back my health with a barbell and a paleo approach to nutrition. My personal experience in using lifestyle interventions to improve my own health has led me to my passion of helping others do the same.

The fact that we live at the bottom of a deep gravity well, on the surface of a gas covered planet going around a nuclear fireball 90 million miles away and think this to be normal is obviously some indication of how skewed our perspective tends to be.
