Welcome to my first blog ever!

I am stealing Kurt’s 3x5 program because his strength is amazing improved in 2 months!  He suggests me to set up my own workout log and see how I am doing in between the sessions.  He also says that he might steal some ideas from me.  Steal some ideas from me???  He is a beast that just lifted over 300 lbs in squat while I lifted only 200 lbs!!! Smile

Here are my maximum test weights:

Squat – 200lbs

Deadlift – 245lbs

Shoulder Press – 115lbs

Power Clean – 175lbs

Bench Press – 195lbs

I just completed 7th session yesterday.  It was ok ok…  Not really that fun.  Those sessions are not challenge enough for me because this program you start at a weight that is 15% less than your current maximum and then work up from there.  I am looking forward for my PRs on 14th or 15th session.

Lol…not a beast. Talk to me when it's well over 400lbs.

Good to see you started a blog – I'll be following it with interest. Where these test weights what you did for one rep or for 5 reps? I'm jealous of your bench press btw.

Oh umm…  I think I should tell you why I am able to lift only 200 lbs squat not 245 or 315.  I tore my left knee from that f… stupid rugby in May 2000.   My both knees kept twisting and swelling for a long time.  I felt that I am 110% ready for this program because my knees are getting better and stronger in last few months from CF.  Thanks to CFR!

I wished that it was a typo on # of pounds for deadlift.  I have never tried this one before and recently lifted 245lbs and felt that was too heavy.  Well, I know that my body says go for 315lbs or 405, but my brain says enough.

For Super Total on August 23, I would like to go for 315lbs or more on deadlift.

Kurt – Yes I tested weights with 5 reps.  My upper body is way stronger than lower body due to bad knees.  I have not workout on my legs for 10 years till I signed up CF in January 2010.  Pretty long time for my poor little legs, eh?

August 19 at 6am – Session 8 of 24 – Workout B

OHS – 105 – 3x5

BP – 180 – 3x5

DL – 245 – 3x5

I had a hard time to get up in the morning with sore/stiff all over my body.  My mental was not in today, which I had a hard time to complete my session.  However, my deadlift was awesome!  Nice to see little bloody on my shin!

I am planning to eat 10 large pizzas over the weekend to gain my weight, so I do not have to be in same weight class as Shae for Super Total on Monday.  He just broke gym’s record for jerk – 275lbs while I barely lifted 155lbs!

First time I played 3 hockey games in the weekend after off for more than a year.  My cardio was super frickin sick!  Thanks to CF again!  However, my body was very stiff.  My back!  My legs!  My knees!  Am I really that too old for this shxt?

I am not going to let this stop me from going to CFR’s Super Total tonight.  I am totally pumped!

I think I gained probably 3 to 4 lbs from junk food over the weekend…  It is not going to put me in different weight class other than Shae.  I was thinking about buy some steroid stuff from online.

My goal for Super Total

                      Natural            Steroids

Snatch             145                  335

C&J                 175                  475

SQ                   225                  Did not complete

BP                   225                  Did not complete

DL                   315                  Did not complete

I predicted that C&J ripped my arms and unable to complete rest of Super Total.  To be safe, I will stick with natural.

Wish me luck!

Wow, what a great experience in Super Total!  Everyone really inspired me.  I am looking forward to do this again in the future.

I never knew that I have that strength in my body and mental.  Very happy with my performance!

                        Goal              Completed

Snatch             145                  145 PR!

C&J                 175                  185 PR!

SQ                   225                  225 PR!

BP                   225                  225 PR!

DL                   315                  345 PR!

I know that I am supposed to take a rest day today, but I want to complete my session this morning because I want to be prepared for next Super Total.

August 24 at 6am – Session 9 of 24 – Workout A

SQ – 190 – 3x5

SP – 105 – 3x5

PC – 170 – 3x5

SQ was awesome.  My legs were pretty tired from Super Total.  I am a little bit disappointed in my Power Clean… I believe that it has to do with my mental.  Last night, I completed my clean 205lbs, so my brain says it should be easy with 170lbs and felt too heavy.  However, I am glad that I completed all sets.

August 26 at 6am – Session 10 of 24 – Workout B

OHS – 110 – 3x5

BP – 185 – 3x5

DL – 255 – 3x5

Sauna – 20 minutes

Great workout this morning!

OHS is getting heavier and heavier.  Looking forward for 5 more pounds and PR in next week.

Need to work on my mental on DL.  After I lifted 345lbs x 1 last Monday, I thought it was going to be easier to lift 255lbs x 5.  Not that easy.

August 31 at 6am – Session 11 of 24 – Workout A

SQ – 195 – 3x5

SP – 110 – 3x5

PC – 175 – 1x5, then 4x3

Sauna – 15 minutes

After Aaron & Leya corrected my technical in SQ last Monday, my legs were stiff since last week.  I had a hard time to complete all sets of SQ with stiff legs.  However, I am glad that I finished all sets.

SP and PC were awesome!  Felt too heavy but it was awesome workout!  I had to changed from (3 sets of 5 reps) to (5 sets of 3 reps) on PC because in my 4th and 5th rep of first set were tough to complete with no energy left.

September 1 at 6am - WOD – OHS 5-5-5-3-3-3

95x5, 105x5, 115x5, 125x3 (PR), 130x3 (PR), 135x3 (PR).  After my last set, I felt good and wanted to try for 145.  145x2 (PR).  My shoulders were too tired for 3rd rep from shoulder press and power clean yesterday.

September 2 at 5:15am – Session 12 of 24 – Workout B

Stuck on chair with crying baby.

I skipped session 12 this morning because I had good workout yesterday WOD – OHS 5-5-5-3-3-3.  No brainer to do OHS again after WOD.  My wrists and knees are pretty stiff.  Looking forward to rest for whole long weekend.
